Multi-version Launcher for Blender
A tool for automatically reading the version info of a .blend file and quickly opening it with the corresponding version. It helps Blender users to more quickly select the version of Blender they need to use.
Please Note: Currently only available for windows.
Main features:
- Quick launch: Double-click a .blend file, and the software will automatically read the Blender version used to create the file and open it with the corresponding version.
If you want to specify a version, you can hold down the Esc key on your keyboard, then double-click to open the .blend file. Wait for the pop-up window to appear, then release the esc key. You can then select the version you want to use in the pop-up window (double-click to launch).
- Version configuration: By creating a version.config file in a folder, you can set the default Blender version for all .blend files in that folder.
- Splash image configuration: You can customize the Splash image for each Blender version by creating a splashes folder in your blender directory.
Quick start:
- Extract the zip file to a suitable location.
- Right-click your .blend file, select "Open with", navigate to the location of Multi-version Launcher for Blender, and select it to set it as the default opening method.
- Open Multi-version Launcher for Blender, and select the location where you store Blender.
- For the above file structure, you should select the Blender-Path folder.
Notice: It is recommended to name your blender folder like blender-4.1.2****
If you have blender-4.1.0 and blender-4.1.2, the launcher prefers to launch the latter one.
Version configuration:
- If you want to configure the version for all .blend files in a folder, you can create a version.config file in that folder, then open it with a text editor and enter the corresponding version.
Startup page configuration:
- Create a splashes folder in the Blender installation location. The names of the image files in this folder determine the corresponding startup page. Supported formats are jpg, png, and webp.
